Air Show and Unpacking

This last week has been a very busy one.  The week started by all of us going to watch Kyle play softball both Monday and Tuesday night.  The kids always enjoy those nights because they get to run around with other kids and get dirty.  I get to sit and get to know the other wives while I watch Kyle play.  Its really a win-win-win-win.  Then on Thursday we got the rest of our stuff delivered.  All together our stuff was in transit for 7 weeks.  I would have never imagined that it would take that long but I am just glad that it is all here in seemingly one piece.

This weekend was the busiest of all.  The airshow was on base so traffic was crazy and it was often very loud with the planes flying over the house.  I took the kids to the show on Saturday.  They got to see the Blue Angels for the second time this year.  Even though the show was the same as before, they are still amazing to watch.  We all enjoyed it...well except for Hailey.  She spent most of her time sitting on the towel with her hands over her already ear plugged ears.  Airplanes just aren't her thing I guess.  We also went into the cockpit of a Coast Guard C-130 which the kids enjoyed very much.  Even though Kyle had to work most of the weekend at the airshow we did  get to watch several of the air performers with him.  All in all it was a very good weekend.

Also, last week we had to say goodbye to a good friend who is deploying to Afghanistan again.  It was sad to say goodbye but we got to spend the last month with him after six years of not seeing him so we are glad that we got that time to spend with him.

This week will be a lot of unpacking and organizing so that I can get everything settled before school starts for me next month.  Alec has a field trip this week and then gets all of next week off for their fall intersession.  Not really sure what that week off is for but he will enjoy it for sure.

I think that has everything all caught up for now.  I will post again soon.

Alec was really excited to see his "favorite racer" at the Air Show to match his shirt

North Shore

Here are some pictures of our trip up to the North Shore. The water was beautiful but the waves were a little much for me and the kids. Hailey barely even got near the water but she was pretty content to play in the sand. Alec is more adventurous but he had to stay on the shore because the waves were getting too big. The water was beautiful and the weather was warm. All in all we had a great time.

Beginning Blogger

This is my first attempt at blogging so forgive me if it is a little simple.  I am still trying to get the hang of all the gadgets and adding pictures.  I will get around to that when I have a little more time to figure it out.  After reading Kori's blog I realized that it would be a good way to keep everyone in the family in the loop with pictures and updates on how and what we are doing out here in Hawaii.  So here it goes.

The time change is still a little difficult to get used to.  I have to do a mental calculation of what time it is in about 3 different time zones when I think of various people in our lives.  Eventually I hope it will become second nature.

We are still waiting for our stuff to get here.  Its a good thing we planned on buying some furniture out here because otherwise our house would be incredibly empty or we would have to use the loaner furniture that tons of people have already borrowed before us.  I haven't heard good reviews about that stuff from the other couples that got here before us so I'm glad we didn't go that route.  Once all of our stuff gets here the house will really feel like home.

The kids are adjusting wonderfully to our new surroundings.  They love it out here with the nice weather and all the stuff to do.  We took them to Sea Life Park last weekend.  They got to see the dolphin and sea lion show.  It was a pretty amazing show and Hailey is currently fascinated with dolphins so she really enjoyed it.

We have plans to hike and kayak as well as snorkle.  There is a lot to do and we intend on doing it.  I will try and keep eveyone updated with entries on here as well as pictures.
